Caution
Granular Activated Charcoal is also known as "fixed-bed carbon filters". Activated Charcoal is made from high quality raw materials that are naturally high in carbon, such as coconut shells and coal. In the absence of oxygen, heat is used to activate the exterior of the carbon, which is why these are sometimes referred to as charcoal filters. These black granules are used for the purpose of purification, as they are a high purity form of carbon. GAC particles are well suited for the adsorption of vapors and gases because they diffuse quickly, and are often used in water treatment.
